at my age

9 Oct

Well, I had my first karate class…and…I loved it!

There was only myself and one other man in the adult class. He was a few moves ahead of me, but this did not phase me. Once we started, my focus was on remembering the ten moves in the kata. The hour flew by and I felt a twinge of disappointment when May announced there were only two minutes left.

One of the best moments was when my son joined in to teach us some simple self defense moves. When we arrived home, my son and I practiced over and over until I remembered every move.

It was so interesting tonight when I did the kata and my son did the counter moves. Very cool!

Karate is the best thing I have done for my soul lately! I can’t wait to go again and may join the class this weekend rather than wait until the adult only class next week!!

Words are powerful and can be used to heal or harm. I believe in using my powers for good. Compassion, celebration of Gaia and our shared humanity, random kindness, the wonder of the human spirit, the poetry of empathy, all inspire me daily.
